Simon Lambert is an extremely kind and caring consultant . He is soft spoken and gentle and was very encouraging with the progress I was making following my operation. He listened and always had time to discuss in detail, together with the scans, the shoulder problem I had and the treatment he wanted to give me. He gave me answers to the numerous questions I had and never made me feel like I was wasting his time or that he was rushing to get me out of his consulting rooms. The operation was a success, we are all pleased with my progress which is still ongoing with a physio. He also has a kind and efficient secretary, Stephanie, who was always contactable by phone to answer any questions.

I went to see Mr. Lambert for a second opinion on my shoulder and am so pleased that I did. The appointment was not at all rushed, he was sympathetic, kind, gentle, thorough and listened to me. Although my partner accompanied me, Mr. Lambert's attention was on me the whole time, unless of course my partner asked a question. I have seen a few consultants/surgeons when accompanied by my partner and have not always found this to be the case. I was impressed with the time taken to explain everything to me and also to be asked if I understood it all. Although I have not yet had my arthroscopy I trust Mr Lambert totally to do his very best for me whilst I am in his care. From my initial phone call and emails to his secretary to my appointment with Mr. Lambert everything has gone as I would wish. I feel confident that the arthroscopy will go well too.

I've delayed my feedback slightly as i wanted to base it on evidence from start to finish. Mr Lambert recently operated on my elbow which had been giving me pain for a year. I was very impressed with the whole process, from initial consultation to the operation and beyond. During every contact with Mr Lambert, he gave the impression he had lots of time to discuss my problem, and importantly, to listen to me. Not that I know anything about elbows, apart from the fact they can be painful, but I expected a consultant surgeon to sweep into the room, tell me what was wrong, and disappear again. Mr Lambert was happy to hear my history, thoughts & concerns, and that gave me a lot of confidence that he was genuinely interested. Everything was clearly explained, and I am very happy with the results, and for that I am very grateful

I have recently undergone a shoulder arthroscopy by Mr Simon Lambert at the Spire Bushey Hospital. I would highly recommend this sympathetic and compassionate Surgeon. He spent a considerable amount of time listening to my symptoms and examining me and gave me a very thorough explanation of my diagnosis and options. The surgery was a success and I am very happy with the result. I would like to commend this Surgeon and the team of staff that he works with who helped make my hospital visits and surgery as stress free and as informative as I would expect from a Surgeon of this calibre. From the first contact with his secretary right through to discharge I was kept informed and treated with care and attention. Thank you.

I saw Mr Lambert a couple of weeks ago having had a failed total left shoulder replacement which has resulted in an 80% loss of use of my arm accompanied by spectacular pain. Mr Lambert was singularly the kindest, most gentle and approachable surgeon I have met to date....(and I have seen many being a person of medical complications). He is the first surgeon to have been genuinely sympathetic with regards to the pain I'm experiencing and also reassuring about surgery he will perform in the future being as pain controlled as possible. (The 3 stars only I've given regarding trust is purely because he hasn't operated as yet - I hope to move it to 5 post surgery!) He is proving thorough in his pre-surgery tests before committing to surgery and is not relying solely on my referral and tests done at my previous hospital from a previous surgeon - all very reassuring for me. He genuinely has the most lovely manner and aura about him which gives me hope that my arm can be improved in both pain terms and mobility. I hope to fill out another review after surgery that has 5 stars all the way!

Profile

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in the shoulder and elbow. I also hold an honorary academic appointment within University College London. Having worked at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH), a specialist orthopaedic hospital, where I created a research-active, educationally-acclaimed, science-based service, integrated with and recognising the extreme importance of expert rehabilitation, I have now moved to University College London Hospital. We enjoy a national reputation for clinical excellence and clinical research, which I fully expect to contribute to over the next decade. We value our national and international collaborations, and expect to develop these further with the evolution of the service. As a component of this effort my work with the AO has offered opportunities to younger colleagues while bringing the values of the AO to a wide variety of surgeons and therapists. Truly international collaboration and exchange of ideas clearly enhances and promotes the efficacy of patient-directed care and forms the basis for the motivation behind my development of the shoulder and elbow service at UCLH.
